Probitas 1492 Hires Lloyd’s Gabriel Anguiano to Spearhead Latin American Growth 5th September 2016 Probitas syndicate 1492 has reinforced its ambition to target key high growth markets with the appointment of Lloyd’s current Mexico Country Manager, Gabriel Anguiano. Anguiano will join Probitas 1492 as Head of Strategy & Business Development, Latin America, reporting directly to CEO, Ash Bathia, and will become a member of the Executive Board. He will have responsibility for driving business growth across Latin America in line with one of the core strategies of the syndicate. Speaking about the appointment, Ash Bathia said “We are incredibly excited and privileged to have attracted someone of Gabriel’s calibre to further strengthen our executive team. Part of our core strategy is to deliver new and accretive business into the Lloyd’s market, particularly out of Latin America, by reaching out to the original source of the business – Gabriel will play a significant role in allowing us to achieve this.” Anguiano will join Probitas 1492 after nine years at Lloyd’s of London, where he currently holds the position of Lloyd’s Mexico Country Manager, having opened Lloyd’s representative office in 2015. Prior to this role he was the Spanish Latin America Market Development Manager where, amongst other achievements, he negotiated special relations and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between Lloyd’s and the insurance associations of Chile and Colombia. His first position at Lloyd’s was Strategy Manager, with responsibility for coordinating the formulation of Lloyd’s three-year strategy plan. He has also held positions as Operations & Finance Director at the Universidad Mexicana de Educación a Distancia and Head of Market – Higher & Further Education at Zurich Financial Services in the UK. Anguiano will join Probitas 1492 later this year.
