About Stuart

Stuart, Head of International Casualty, works closely with Alastair Herbert to provide excellent underwriting and service to the international market. As a founding member of Probitas 1492 and a regular at our Lloyd’s box, Stuart is committed to the syndicate’s innovative approach and brings experience of underwriting risks around the world across a range of industries, including Manufacturing and Distribution, Rail, Utilities and Power, Hospitality, Onshore Energy, Mining, and Contractors

The International General Liability team underwrite SME and large multinational business on both a primary and excess of loss basis. And are experienced in leading large complex risks and portfolio business, as well as participating as a co-insurer.

Stuart started his career with QBE in 2007. He spent time with both underwriting and operations teams before relocating to Spain for 12 months, working for the Madrid office. In 2013, he moved on to a graduate programme with Lloyd’s where he learnt more about the unique trading model in the Lloyd’s market. Stuart has also worked as a Claims Adjuster, so is able to bring a unique perspective from many areas of the industry to Probitas 1492 and his underwriting.

Stuart is ACII qualified and has been accredited with Chartered Insurer status. He speaks fluent Spanish.
