About Richard

Richard, Head of UK Casualty at Probitas 1492, is responsible for driving the underwriting strategy for UK and Ireland. With a broad appetite for risk combined with a willingness to understand and overcome the challenges facing businesses in many different sectors of the market.

Richard works closely with Mark Pearce, and the UK and European Property team, providing added value to the policyholder via package solutions in target areas.

Working closely with London Market and specialist brokers, Richard and his team look to underwrite business across a broad spectrum of trades and industries, creating focussed products for niche sectors, bespoke policy coverage and a dynamic approach to risk.

He joined the insurance industry in 1997 and has focused primarily on the UK market since. He has worked at ACE, Willis, JLT and QBE, building a broad experience across broking, underwriting and portfolio management roles. This background provides Richard with a unique perspective to the business he sees both at the Lloyd’s box and in the office.

Richard has a collaborative approach to underwriting, working closely with his team to uphold the values of the syndicate and deliver benefits to his broker partners and policyholders alike.
