About Jon

As Chief Underwriting Officer – Property & Construction, Jon leads the underwriting team focusing on their discipline and strategy to build a robust book of insurance and reinsurance business across the globe. Working closely with Antony Dodson and the wider Analytics team to ensure that each risk is assessed accordingly, the team work diligently on accurate pricing and terms.

Jon adopts an open door policy working directly with his team on a daily basis. He ensures that policyholders and brokers receive an exemplary service and the property and construction solutions meet the needs of the policyholder.

Starting his career in 1994, Jon has held positions with Marsh and Hiscox before joining Ascot Syndicate 1414 as part of the start-up team in 2001.

During his 11 years at Ascot, in addition to property underwriting and business production, Jon played an active role in the governance of overseas offices. He was promoted to Underwriting Management Committee, the Executive Committee and appointed Executive Underwriter for the London Market insurance business.

Jon has chaired the Lloyd’s Market Association Property Panel and represented Lloyd’s Property market on the Lloyd’s Market Association Non-Marine Committee.

As a founding member of Probitas Syndicate 1492, Jon has lead from the front and been instrumental in establishing the inclusive and supportive culture within the teams.
